PerspecSys takes highest marks as an emerging technology company at premier Silicon Valley event
Win caps off two busy days as part of delegation led by C100, Consulate General of Canada
WATERLOO, ON, May 25 /PRNewswire/ - PerspecSys Inc. (www.perspecsys.com), maker of a cloud data security platform that ensures full control and protection of sensitive data used in the public cloud, wowed a judging panel of veteran Silicon Valley venture capitalists last week on the strength of its go-to-market strategy and unique value proposition.
PerspecSys was one of 40 companies, 15 of them Canadian, presented with an opportunity to make a two-minute "extreme elevator pitch" at Plug and Play Spring EXPO 2010 (www.plugandplaytechcenter.com/expo/) before a judging panel that included venture capitalists and angel investors. From this group, three finalists then gave a 10-minute pitch. When the dust settled, the judges gave PerspecSys the highest rating due its go-to-market strategy and an innovative solution that lies at the confluence of two key growth markets - cloud computing and securing sensitive corporate data to meet compliancy requirements.
"The judges determined that enterprises will buy our technology to proactively ensure the privacy, residency and security of sensitive data while using software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications," said Jeff Campbell, president and CEO of PerspecSys. "We are thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in this event and proud to have been recognized in such a way, which I think was due in no small part to the passionate presentation by our founder, Terry Woloszyn."
PerspecSys's flagship solution is the PRS Server, which addresses concerns surrounding cloud adoption, namely the ceding to the cloud provider of control over private and sensitive data such as company secrets, personally identifiable data such as customer records, and other commercially sensitive information. The PRS Server allows the company to retain control over sensitive data, thereby mitigating emerging threats to cloud applications while remaining compliant with regulatory and standards requirements.
Plug and Play Spring EXPO is the premier Silicon Valley showcase that introduces promising emerging technology companies that are launching product and service offerings and/or looking for funding within the current year.
PerspecSys's showing at the expo, which attracted significant interest from attending investors, was part of a larger road trip with 19 other Canadian technology companies called 48hrs in the Valley, a fun and intense two-day mentoring and business development program designed to help Canadian entrepreneurs connect with the advice, resources and networks they need to grow their businesses.
48hrs is an initiative of C100 (www.theC100.org) in partnership with the Consulate General of Canada. A non-profit, member-driven organization dedicated to supporting Canadian technology entrepreneurship and investment, C100 is comprised of a select group of Canadians based primarily in Silicon Valley, including executives of leading technology companies, experienced startup entrepreneurs and venture capital investors.
"PerspecSys's win at Plug and Play Spring EXPO speaks to the strength and ingenuity of all the Canadian entrepreneurs who participated," said Stewart Beck, Consul General of Canada, San Francisco-Silicon Valley. "Canadian technology and innovation is in demand the world over and we are proud to help these companies establish the business contacts and achieve the exposure that is so crucial to their growth and expansion."
C100 will be holding Canadian launch events in Ottawa from May 25-28 concurrent with the Canadian Venture Capital Association's annual meeting, including a sold out reception that is taking place tonight at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada.
