Personhood USA: While family awaits new ruling, Justina Pelletier has yet to be seen by Tufts doctors
BOSTON, March 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- More than three weeks after Judge Johnston ruled that Justina Pelletier's medical care should be returned to Tufts Medical Center, Massachusetts DCF has not permitted her to receive a medical examination from doctors at Tufts. Her health continues to worsen.
The family awaits a new ruling from Judge Johnston to be issued today determining the future of Justina's custody.
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Pelletier family spokesperson, stated: "This nightmare has continued far too long as continued delays have threatened Justina's health. It's been three weeks since the ruling transferred her custody to Tufts, but Massachusetts DCF has prevented her from seeing any doctors from Tufts or receiving any medical examination at all! The only equitable solution for this crisis is to return Justina to the loving arms of her family."
Keith Mason, President of Personhood USA, added, "We await the ruling from Judge Johnston today with steely resolve. We hope that he will do the right thing by returning Justina to her loving family. If not, we will raise up a public outcry so deafening that it cannot - and will not - be ignored. We won't rest until Justina is returned safely home and is fully respected as a person with dignity and rights."
