Periop 101: A Core Curriculum consists of 25 perioperative nursing education modules, which will enable hospitals to provide consistent education to novice operating room (OR) personnel through visual aids, practice quizzes, printable job aids, interactive graphics, video segments and real-world clinical situations to apply the information learned. All information and instruction is continuously reviewed by AORN's team of expert authors and perioperative experts to ensure that all content is valid and up-to-date. Periop 101: A Core Curriculum features a blended learning program that includes both face-to-face and online learning experiences. The online component contains critical information that the learners need to know, as well as review materials and knowledge assessments. The face-to-face portion provides the learner with the opportunity to put their skills into practice by experiencing actual OR situations.
"We are excited to be working with AORN to make Periop 101: A Core Curriculum available to NetLearning customers," said Will Passano, vice president, NetLearning. "According to a recent study, one in every four medical errors are surgical, and as many as 74 percent of these errors are preventable. The Periop 101 curriculum can help to reduce these errors by providing high quality, thorough education on safe, effective and appropriate perioperative care. Periop 101 will be available to nurses anytime, anywhere, with the ease of self-paced, individual study to help further their professional education, while fitting in with the busy schedule of today's healthcare workers."
The NetLearning LMS is one of the most advanced systems available in the healthcare industry today. Built in ASP.NET/Microsoft SQL Server architecture, it was designed and refined by healthcare professionals in the field to ensure maximum efficiency when managing, tracking and reporting on staff development, training and compliance. Unlike other systems, NetLearning's LMS platform offers integration with HR systems, sending information on grades and course completion dates to automate payroll, scheduling, merit raises and other performance initiatives as determined by the administrator.
Available to individuals and hospitals/institutions, the Periop 101 education modules have been approved for continuing nursing education (CNE) hours, and can be taken as a full curriculum or as individual learning modules. Additionally, NetLearning will now offer Periop 101: A Core Curriculum administrator and preceptor modules which will educate nurse managers, clinical nurse specialists and unit-based educators on how to effectively conduct the program to achieve the highest levels of employee satisfaction and patient safety.
