"Performance for Peace" at the Lincoln Memorial on April 24th to Look Forward to the Next 100 Years of Peace between Turkey and Armenia
WASHINGTON, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Friday, April 24th at 12:00 pm at the Lincoln Memorial the Turkic Platform will host a "performance for peace" to raise awareness and foster greater cooperation between Turkey and Armenia given the heightened tensions surrounding the conflict that happen 100 years ago. The performance will include nearly 150 dancers and a color guard pledging a peaceful next 100 years through dance, while waving flags, and in coordinated costumes.
Tensions between Turkey and Armenia over the 1915 conflict will culminate on April 24th, marking the 100th anniversary of Armenian claims, claims Turkey has adamantly denied pointing to the millions of Turks, Kurds, Arabs, and Jews that were also killed during the conflict.
