Firm fundraiser benefits group dedicated to helping young women with breast cancer
NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third straight year, Peppercom combined its penchant for stand-up comedy with philanthropy to raise $9,000 for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women with breast cancer.

Peppercom added stand-up comedy to its management development program three years ago. Since then, every employee has been trained and scores have actually performed on stage.
The YSC link arose after a Peppercom employee lost his wife to cancer and introduced the YSC and its mission to the agency. As a result of the comedy shows and additional events, Peppercom employees have raised more than $25,000 in total for YSC over four years, a significant contribution to the small charity.
"YSC is grateful for Peppercom's continuing support," said Young Survival Coalition (YSC) CEO, Jennifer Merschdorf. "Dedicated corporate partners ensure that YSC will be able to provide critical resources, education and support to all young women facing a diagnosis of breast cancer."
Before taking the stage of the Broadway Comedy Club this year, each employee was trained by professional comedian and Peppercom comedy coach, Clayton Fletcher.
"My mother is a breast cancer survivor, so I'm more than happy to open the comedy club doors to Peppercom and support them," said Fletcher.
The comedy workshop has also proved instrumental in improving morale across the agency.
"As someone with breast cancer in my family, including male breast cancer, I definitely wanted to volunteer to help," said account executive Laura Bedrossian. "It was an invigorating experience and despite how terrifying the prospect is of doing stand-up comedy, I wouldn't hesitate to spend my time helping such a worthy cause again . . . and again."
