Peoples Natural Gas Company Selects Ventyx Solution for Operations and Customer Service

ATLANTA, Feb. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ventyx®, an ABB company, today announced a new license and services contract with Peoples Natural Gas Company for the Ventyx Service Suite mobile workforce management (MWFM) software solution to help the utility improve work performed by its enterprise wide mobile workforce.

Peoples Natural Gas, formerly Dominion Peoples, is one of Pittsburgh's largest natural gas companies with more than 359,000 residential and business customers. The company was purchased by an independent investment management firm and spun off as a separate company in February 2010. As a result, the company is building its backbone of information systems to help deliver optimal customer service and enhance operational efficiency across the enterprise.

"Our plan is to implement Service Suite first to support our customer service efforts in the field, integrating the system with the customer information system from SAP," said Lisa Reilly, PNG - Process Manager.  "This integration will help improve customer satisfaction by enabling call center reps to book tighter appointment windows, enabling more flexibility to schedule around customers' preferences. Additionally, the functionality within Service Suite will allow the system to quickly adjust to schedule changes throughout the day."

Peoples then plans to leverage Service Suite to improve its operations across the enterprise, managing such field activities as maintenance, construction, inspection and regulatory compliance work thus improving customer service. "One of the reasons we chose Service Suite was its ability to manage multiple work types--both high-volume, short-duration orders as well as the most complex, multi-step activities--all with a single application," said Reilly.

With this contract, Peoples joins a growing client list for Ventyx, which holds a large market share in mobile workforce management in energy, utility and communications markets with more than 100,000 licensed mobile users worldwide. Furthermore, the company's client list includes 15 of the top 20 North American gas utilities.
