Penton's Waste Industry Group Announces 2013 WasteExpo Conference Program
Education Sessions Focus on Sustainable Materials Management
NEW YORK, May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton's Waste Industry Group today announced the conference program for WasteExpo, North America's largest trade event for the solid waste and recycling community. The program, which is produced in partnership with the Environmental Industries Associations (EIA), includes three days of dozens of sessions and workshops taught by industry experts on the most relevant topics in the sustainable materials management industry.
The 45th annual WasteExpo Conference and Exhibition will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, May 20-23, 2013. WasteExpo is where public and private sector professionals gather to learn and sharpen skills in building waste, recycling and organics industry knowledge. WasteExpo has the support and partnership of the Environmental Industries Associations.
"As our industry continues its migration from waste management to sustainable materials management we have also modified our education programs. Key featured education includes:
- The Organics Recovery and Processing Track will first give attendees a "big picture" industry account of its current status and the outlook for the future. This new track was developed in collaboration with Stuart Buckner, Ph.D., and president of Buckner Environmental Associates, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in organics management. - One-day LEED Certified/US Green Building Council approved Construction & Demolition Waste Recycling Training and Accreditation Course on Wednesday, May 22. This training will provide participants with a competitive edge, and should result in them saving money on every project where these methods are implemented. See the agenda for information.
On Monday, May 20 at 3:15 p.m., Jay Kilbourn, Casella Organics will moderate "Composting & Anaerobic Digestion Symptoms and Technologies: Case Studies."
On Tuesday, May 21 at 12:00 p.m., Craig Benson, Distinguished Professor of Engineering, Director of Sustainability Research and Education, University of Wisconsin-Madison will present "Sustainability: Moving from Disposal to Materials and Energy Management."
Also on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m., Will Flower, Corporate Communications Expert and Armand Lembo Jr., President, Lemcor Inc. will present "Preparing for Disasters: What to do Before, During and After Waves." Steve Changaris, Northeast Regional Manager, National Solid Wastes Management Association will moderate.
