Penton's IoT Emerge Chicago Event Taps the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) to Share New Research Related to Intelligent Buildings Cybersecurity Risks
The Robust Smart Buildings and Energy Track Offers Intelligent Building Owners and Facility Managers Real-World Advice and Insights for Smart Properties
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton's IoT Emerge, a new event that targets the opportunities and challenges posed by IoT devices, platforms and services, presented by the IoT Institute, today announced the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) will share new research related to cybersecurity risks that are faced by owners and managers of intelligent buildings.
"Cybersecurity is a top concern for building owners and managers, so this session is a great addition to our robust 'Smart Buildings & Energy' track, which will offer real-world advice and insight. From Cybersecurity risks to leveraging low-cost sensors and justifying energy management programs we will bring all of these critical intelligent building topics to the forefront for building owners and managers," said Karen Field, Executive Content Director, IoT Institute, Penton. "As a true thought leader in the smart buildings space, CABA is a strong collaborator for us to work with to help educate our audience. We look forward to showcasing the findings from their ground breaking research."
On Thursday, November 3 at the McCormick Center in Chicago, Rawlson King, CABA's Communications Director will present "Intelligent Buildings and Cybersecurity," which is part of the IoT Security and Smart Buildings & Energy track. The research analyzes potential cybersecurity risks that are faced by owners and managers of intelligent buildings. Specifically, the presentation will cover:
- How cyber-attacks can arise from integrated building control systems and the steps that can be taken to limit these incidents and their impact.
- End-user research that involves IT managers to further elaborate the extent to which the real estate industry and IT professionals understand the concept of cybersecurity within the North American commercial building environment.
- Potential hardware and software-based security solutions that are designed to identify and prevent cybersecurity threats in intelligent buildings.
IoT Emerge, scheduled for November 2–4, 2016 at McCormick Place in Chicago, will offer real-world education and insights, hands-on experience of IoT enabled businesses through conference programs, live demos, case studies, and local tours. Mirroring the focus of the IoT Institute on Smart Cities and the Industrial IoT, the event will provide comprehensive insights and guidance on achieving success with IoT strategies and implementations in these segments. The event will feature strategic and technical sessions, workshops, hands-on training, cross-functional peer-to-peer networking, advice and lessons learned on achieving organizational readiness, leveraging data analytics, and instituting security best practices. Embracing the reality that IoT requires multiple stakeholders and departments working together, the event is targeted at private and public sector leaders; operations, IT, engineering, and facilities management; as well as system integrators and IoT product developers.
