Penton's Data Expert and Director of Data Engineering, Raj Nair, to Share Key Insights on State-of-the-Art Technology Solutions at the Data Summit on May 13

NEW YORK, April 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton, a professional information services company, today announced that Raj Nair, Director, Data Engineering, will present at the Data Summit, which focuses on the future of data management and analysis and how it is transforming the business world.  The event will take place May 12-14 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York.

Participating in the "Technology Insights" Track, Raj will participate on the "Hadoop Success Stories From the Real World" panel on Tuesday, May 13 at 12:00 p.m.  Raj will discuss how Penton is moving from data processing in silos to ETL-as-a-platform with Hadoop as the underlying foundation.  He will specifically cover why best practices in managing data are critical; the value and importance of data warehouses; the application of big data technologies in data integration and processing; and key factors to consider before adoption and deployment of big data technologies.

In addition, Monte Zweben, co-founder and CEO, Splice Machine, and Rob Fuller, managing director, Product Innovation Centerm Harte-Hanks, Inc., will discuss how to migrate Oracle databases to Hadoop.

With more than 15 years of experience, Raj is an expert in database technologies. As Director, Data Engineering at Penton, Raj and his team are utilizing the Hadoop ecosystem to radically redefine data processing and integration for the company's data products.  Previously, Raj spent 11 years at IBM working in research and development building database technology products.  While at IBM, he was responsible for the first commercially available in-memory data warehouse engine, the IBM Informix Warehouse Accelerator. Raj is a frequent presenter at industry conferences around relational and in-memory data technologies as well as adviser to customers on database architecture and deployment. Raj earned a Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation/electrical engineering from the University of Mysore, India, and a MS in Engineering Management and MBA from the University of Kansas.
