Penton's Aviation Week Announces 2015 "MRO of the Year" Awards
NEW YORK, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance, HAECO, Kuehne+Nagel and NORDAM were named as the 2015 winners of the "MRO of the Year" Awards presented today by Penton's Aviation Week, the largest multimedia information and services provider to the global aviation, aerospace and defense industries. "The companies honored provide examples of how creative aftermarket solutions deepen aftermarket service values for customers," says Lee Ann Shay, Aviation Week's Chief Editor MRO.
The prestigious awards, which honor outstanding achievement and innovation in the aviation aftermarket industry, were presented at a ceremony during the MRO Americas 2014 Conference & Exhibition (www.aviationweek.com/events/mro) at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida.
Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance received the Outstanding Airline Maintenance Group Award. AFI KLM Engineering & Maintenance took several major steps in 2014 to set up comprehensive support for the latest generation of aircraft and engines — including establishing maintenance programs for the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
HAECO won the Leading Independent MRO Award. HAECO acquired Timco Aviation Services in February 2014, which expanded its operations into North America, and allowed the companies to create a sub-brand called HAECO Cabin Solutions. The one-stop shop capability expedites turnaround time and promotes effective resource planning.
Kuehne+Nagel was honored with the Innovative Supplier/OEM Service Provider Award. Kuehne+Nagel created an innovative end-to-end integrated supply chain solution for transporting engines, KN EngineChain. The company created a training program for their employees and carriers to handle engines — as well as a certification program to assess and evaluate carriers handling engines.
NORDAM received the Military Center of Excellence Award. NORDAM is reducing AOG time for the U.S. Navy F/A-18 A-D Hornets by providing interchangeable, remanufactured engine bay doors that feature new skins and blanked-out edges, which creates a universal configuration so the doors fit on any Hornet. This unique repair solution optimizes aircraft downtime, makes the maintenance process more efficient and improves fleet supply chain management efficiencies.
Following presentation of the MRO of the Year awards, Ernesto Ruiz was awarded this year's coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. Ernesto is chairman of Aeroman, a leading narrowbody MRO provider and the only founding member of the Airbus MRO Network in Latin America. He has more than 27 years of experience in senior leadership positions with TACA Airlines and Aeroman. Ernesto has played a fundamental role in the successful turnaround of Grupo TACA as well as in Aeroman´s incursion within the North American market.
