Penton Promotes Cary Blake, Sarah Lockyer And Garrett Schemmel
NEW YORK, Jan. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton today recognized the accomplishments and leadership of three staffers — Cary Blake, Sarah Lockyer and Garrett Schemmel — promoting them to new positions in their respective industry information groups.
Blake, a veteran farm editor and broadcaster with deep roots in agriculture, has been promoted from associate editor to editor of Western Farm Press in the Penton Agriculture Group. As editor, Blake will oversee the editorial content for both the print edition of Western Farm Press and the westernfarmpress.com website, as well as Western Farm Press Daily, an e-newsletter that provides frequent updates of news events in California and Arizona.
"Cary has become a widely respected voice for western agriculture, which is no small feat given the tremendous diversity of crops in the Far West," said Agriculture Group Market Leader Greg Frey. "He will carry on our rich tradition of providing timely, reliable information for western growers."
Lockyer, has been promoted from online executive editor to editor-in-chief of Nation's Restaurant News (NRN) in the Penton Restaurant Group. In her new role, Sarah will drive NRN's strategic, multimedia content evolution, as well as enhancement of all NRN content vehicles, from its market-leading B2B foodservice website to its flagship magazine. She will maintain responsibility for managing the Penton Restaurant Group digital editorial team and will continue to work with Food Management and Restaurant Hospitality magazines to improve their digital products, as well as share best practices across the group.
"Over the past three years Sarah has done an incredible job of vastly increasing the volume and quality of NRN's digital content. Her digital editorial team is known as the best in the foodservice industry, and Sarah herself has become a recognized authority among industry leaders," said Group Market Leader Randall Friedman. "As much as this promotion acknowledges her accomplishments, it even more validates her editorial vision."
Schemmel has been promoted to director, Industry Group Data Products. He assumes this role in addition to retaining his position as brand director for Equipment Watch and Price Digest.
In this newly created position, Schemmel will oversee the development of new data products, as well as the enhancement of current data products across the Industry Group. He also will help drive strategy.
"Garrett has done an exceptional job of managing the growth opportunities across our Public Infrastructure data products. He has built a solid team that has moved our data products significantly up the value scale for our customers," said Industry Group SVP Bob MacArthur. "His goal now is to build a center of excellence for data acquisition, and to establish best-practices for our group. There is no one better qualified than Garrett to take on this critical assignment."
These promotions exemplify Penton's commitment to encourage and enable talented professionals to succeed throughout our company.
