LOS ANGELES, July 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Penske Media Corporation today announced the hire of Michael Buckner as its first-ever chief photographer, signalling a significant step in PMC's expansion in the editorial images business.
Buckner has been a photojournalist with Getty Images for more than 10 years covering the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and around the world. He joins the company one month after PMC announced its new multiyear alliance with Shutterstock, Inc. (NYSE: SSTK) to create and license entertainment and fashion images and videos to the world's top media, publishing and creative companies.

Based in PMC's Los Angeles office, Buckner will be tasked with driving the creation of entertainment imagery and video assets for Variety and other PMC brands. These new images will build upon PMC's deep photo archives currently held by Variety and WWD.

PMC events and access also include red carpet and fashion runway events associated with PMC's more than 20 other media brands, including WWD, Hollywood Life, Deadline Hollywood, Variety Latino and Footwear News.

Deep-rooted in Los Angeles, Buckner holds a bachelor's degree in print journalism from the University of Southern California. Prior to being a photographer with Getty Images from 2006 to 2015, he was a photographer at Reuters News Pictures from 2005 to 2006 and prior to that an editor at WireImage from 2003 to 2005.
