Pennsylvania's SCI Cresson Property in Cambria County Bid Re-Issued Public Purchase, Price Reduced to $500,000
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- State Department of General Services Curt Topper today announced the former SCI Cresson Property in Cambria County has been re-issued for public purchase through the competitive sealed bid process. Bids are currently being accepted until Dec. 13, 2016 at 3 p.m.
"We are making efforts to improve the attractiveness and marketability of the property to find an organization or land developer who will be able to put this land to use for the overall improvement of the local economy," Topper said. "Every tool we have at our disposal is being used to get this property back onto the local tax rolls, including lowering the price of the property."
Secretary Topper noted that the department has reduced the minimum bid amount that will be accepted from $730,000 to $500,000.
The SCI Cresson Property is located at 301 Correction Road, Cresson, PA and consists of six parcels of land totaling nearly 329 acres of land with buildings totaling 443,202 sq. feet. The prison opened in 1987 and was operated by the PA Department of Corrections until it was closed in 2013.
