Pennsylvania's Brian Stein Named Small Business Advocate of the Year

WASHINGTON, June 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Small Business Association (NSBA) today announced Brian Stein of S&S Intersource, a refractory business serving the steel industry in Mars, Pa. as the overall winner of the 2014 Lewis Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award. Stein was recognized today in Washington, D.C. for his exemplary work in advocating for America's small businesses.

"Brian is the epitome of a small-business advocate," stated NSBA President and CEO Todd McCracken. "He has spent countless hours lobbying on issues that are far outside the scope of his own business—and he does it all with one single goal: to improve small business in America today and for the future."

As chairman elect of SMC Business Councils in Pennsylvania, Stein has been actively involved in a host if initiatives, including as Chair of SMC's Tax Working Group. He has testified before the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and regularly attends lobbying days on behalf of SMC and NSBA in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C. Stein maintains relationships with his elected officials and has been outspoken on the need for broad tax reform such as the Fair Tax.

In addition to his lobbying efforts, Stein has spoken out in the media about the need for a level playing field for small firms and was had an editorial published by the Washington Post discussing the need to ease complexity of the U.S. tax code.
