Pennsylvania State Police to Host "Come Get to Know Us Day"
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania State Police will be hosting a "Come Get to Know Us Day" at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The academy is located at 175 East Hershey Park Drive, Hershey, PA 17033. The family-friendly event is free of charge and open to the public.
The event is an opportunity for anyone considering a career with the Pennsylvania State Police to visit the training academy, meet members of the department and see equipment displays and demonstrations. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn what is required to become a trooper, liquor control enforcement officer, motor carrier enforcement officer and police communications operator. The State Civil Service Commission will be available to answer any questions on how to apply for civilian positions within the department as well.
The following is a schedule of events:
Police equipment will be on display on the parade field and guided tours of the academy will be held during the entirety of the event. Demonstrations of the Physical Readiness Test (PRT) and cadet workout routines will be held in the gymnasium at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30. Recruitment presentations, which include a video presentation and question and answer session, will also be held in the Lecture Hall at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30. The physical fitness and recruitment presentations will each last approximately 45 minutes.
The department is actively recruiting all qualified individuals with an emphasis on females and minorities. Community members and individuals interested in a career with the department are encouraged to attend.
