Pennsylvania Sees Successful Start to Business Friendly Expedited Corporation Filing Service
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Several dozen corporations took advantage of Pennsylvania's new expedited filing service during its first week in operation.
"Businesses are often involved in complicated financial and legal transactions which can go down to the wire," said Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele. "This new service allows for documents to be processed in as little as one hour, and is another way Governor Corbett is helping attract new jobs to Pennsylvania."
Businesses incorporating in Pennsylvania file with the Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations, part of the Department of State.
Gov. Corbett created the expedited filing service by signing Act 67 of 2013, and the Department of State implemented the new service January 6. During the service's first week, 70 corporations used the expedited filing availability to register their documents with the state.
"The fact so many corporations used this service in its first week shows how valuable this tool will be as part of the governor's plan to expand his successful job creation agenda, which so far has resulted in 149,000 private sector jobs created in the state since January of 2011," Aichele said. She noted expedited corporate filing is a service many businesses requested from her agency.
"Our customers are frequently faced with tight deadlines for high profile deals that must be completed in short amounts of time," said Alan Stachura, Senior Manager of Government Relations for CT Corporation of Wilmington, Delaware. Stachura's company handles corporate filings for other businesses. "Now that Pennsylvania has begun offering expedited services, our customers have the confidence to meet the tight deadlines and complete last minute filings that they could not in the past."
Documents for expedited filing must be delivered in person to the Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations in Room 206 of the North Office Building, located at 401 North Street, Harrisburg. An individual submitting a document for expedited service may wait and get the completed request in person, or have the completed request emailed. The expedited corporation filing service carries these fees, in addition to the statutory fees for the type of document or service sought:
- One-hour service, $1,000 in addition to filing fee
- Three-hour service, $300 in addition to filing fee
- Same-day service, $100 in addition to filing fee
Payment for the expedited service may be made by credit card, check, or money order.
"Gov. Corbett recognizes time is money, and adding this expedited document filing service is another way to help make filing corporate documents, and brining jobs to Pennsylvania, easier," Aichele said.
