Pennsylvania Restaurants, Food Facilities that Incurred Flood Waters Must Pass State Inspection Before Reopening

HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Agriculture Secretary George Greig today reminded owners of state-inspected restaurant and food facilities hit by the recent flood waters that they must be inspected by the department's Bureau of Food Safety prior to reopening.  

"Our food sanitarians will be inspecting restaurants and food facilities that have been flooded," said Greig. "These establishments that are routinely inspected by the state can reopen only after they have passed inspection by the Department of Agriculture. We want to work with establishments as quickly as possible so they may resume business."

Additional food sanitarians are being activated to the hardest hit areas in the commonwealth. Establishments will only be inspected after flood waters have receded and facilities thoroughly cleaned.
