Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Announces Availability of Wage Reimbursements for New Hires with Disabilities
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) Secretary Kathy Manderino today announced the availability of wage reimbursements to employers for new hires with disabilities via the single-point-of-contact (SPOC) service delivery system administered by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). The announcement was part of OVR's 2016 business services and outreach division training held in State College.
Conference attendees learned about the Jobs for All on-the-job training program, which creates paid work opportunities for people with disabilities with OVR business partners. The on-the-job training program provides a reimbursement for a percentage of an OVR customer's wages to employers while they are on-boarding a new employee.
"The Wolf Administration is committed to increasing the hiring of Pennsylvanians with disabilities," Secretary Manderino said. "The Jobs for All program provides critical funding to businesses to help offset the on-boarding cost of individuals from this largely untapped labor pool."
OVR has a talent pipeline of qualified, pre-screened individuals who can become employees that add value to a business or organization's bottom line. The training program helps employers acquire skilled employees capable of satisfying their specific business needs while offsetting some of the cost of that onboarding.
As part of the day-long training session, Sec. Manderino moderated an inter-agency panel on creating pathways for individuals with disabilities that included representatives from the departments of Aging, Community and Economic Development, Corrections, and Education.
