Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission Announces Eastern Field Office for Preservation Services
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) today announced the opening of a new field office for historic preservation services at Graeme Park, 859 County Line Road, Horsham, Montgomery County, one of 25 historic sites and museums PHMC administers on its Pennsylvania Trails of History®.
The office will serve citizens in the eastern part of Pennsylvania including Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester Delaware, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne counties.
PHMC opened the new office to help citizens, local governments and non-profit organizations better access a broad range of programs, including the surveying and documentation of historic places, National Register of Historic Places nominations, certified local government designation, Historical Architectural Review Board training, guidance and technical assistance, grant and rehabilitation investment tax credits and state historical marker applications.
The office, located on the ground floor of a restored, early 19th-century fieldstone barn at Graeme Park, will be staffed by Cory R. Kegerise, historic preservation specialist. Kegerise, who earned a master's degree in historic preservation from the University of Pennsylvania, previously served as the administrator of local preservation programs for the Maryland Historical Trust. In that role, he provided policy and planning guidance to local governments and community organizations on a wide variety of preservation issues, managed a successful awards program and developed and presented training and public education programs. Office hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., by appointment. Drop-in hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays.
