Pennsylvania Governor Wolf Nominates Career Businessman Michael Newsome to Liquor Control Board
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Wolf today nominated Michael Newsome, who has spent more than 37 years in business, including accounting, finance, and management and most recently as a senior executive in the retail and wholesale distribution industry, to serve on the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.

"Michael has served in a large variety of roles across the private sector in Pennsylvania and has led the sale and transition of two major Central Pennsylvania businesses. His business background and private-sector expertise will be an asset as the LCB works to maximize revenue and consumer convenience."
Newsome has a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Lafayette College in Easton. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Wolf Organization, where he was named a 2013 Finalist for CFO of The Year by Central Penn Business Journal. He was a key member of management to transition Wolf from a traditional 2-step distributor to a national sourcing company of kitchen and bath cabinets, decking and other building products.
From 1992 until 2004, Newsome served as Controller at the newspaper, York Daily Record, where he participated in the sale and transfer of ownership to MediaNews Group and oversaw union contract negotiations.
Prior to that, Newsome managed information and administrative systems for Armstrong World Industries, Inc., in Lancaster for more than 15 years.
Newsome also has a strong community presence and record of service. He has served in past and present roles on the boards of the York County Community Foundation, Memorial Health Systems Foundation, Crispus Attucks Charter School, York County Industrial Development Authority and York County Heritage Trust, among other organizations.
