Pennsylvania Governor Rendell: State Investments Bring New HVAC Distribution Center, Dozens of Jobs to Dauphin County
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A leading manufacturer and distributor of heating, venting and air conditioning equipment will establish a new distribution center in Dauphin County and create at least 31 jobs within three years, Governor Edward G. Rendell announced today.
Lennox International, Inc. will lease a 130,000 square-foot facility in Middletown that will serve as a distribution center to support its northeastern U.S. operations. The distribution center will receive HVAC units and small parts from Lennox manufacturing plants and distribute them to customers and resellers. The $1.3 million project will create at least 31 jobs within three years and retain 20 existing positions.
"When one of the world's premier HVAC firms chooses Pennsylvania over other locations, it proves once again that our strategic investments help to attract even greater levels of private investment and create jobs," said Governor Rendell. "The workforce of south-central Pennsylvania will benefit from this facility's new jobs and the potential for future growth."
Through its subsidiaries, Lennox International Inc. is a global leader in the heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration markets.
"We're excited to continue the expansion of our North American distribution network by leasing the facility in Middletown," said Gary Bedard, vice president and general manager, Lennox International Residential Heating and Cooling. "The Middletown facility is important to our future planning as we continue to focus on doubling our North American distribution by 2012, allowing us to significantly increase our same day and next day service levels."
The project was coordinated by the Governor's Action Team, economic development professionals who work directly with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in the state.
Pennsylvania provided the company with an $181,950 funding offer that includes a $75,000 opportunity grant, $13,950 in job training assistance, and $93,000 in job creation tax credits.
Since Governor Rendell took office in 2003, the Governor's Action Team has successfully completed 1,163 projects, resulting in commitments to create 128,105 new jobs and retain 300,573 existing positions. The commonwealth has offered more than $2.2 billion in assistance for these projects, which will leverage more than $16 billion in additional investment.
