Pennsylvania Governor Rendell Releases $7 Million for Building Improvements to Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today announced that $7 million in state funds have been released to the Department of General Services for improvements to the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster.
"The improvements planned for this facility are critical to providing a quality education for the school's students," Governor Rendell said. "These improvements would not have been possible without the steadfast support and determination of state Rep. Mike Sturla, who persevered to get this funding."
The renovations will cover over 200,000 square feet and six wings of the building, located at 1100 E. Orange St. Improvements will include a new boiler and heating system, elevator and air conditioning system repairs, roof and alarm system replacements, installation of security camera and sprinkler systems, plumbing and computer network upgrades, and more.
Work will be performed under the supervision of the Department of General Services and is expected to begin by this fall.
Situated on 32.5 acres located at the eastern edge of Lancaster, the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology offers associate degrees and certificates in technical education programs. The college prepares students for skilled employment in a diverse, ever-changing workforce.
