Pennsylvania Governor Rendell Orders State Flags at Capitol, State Correctional Institutions to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Crawford County CO Gary M. Chapin
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 19, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today ordered all Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and State Correctional Institutions statewide to be flown at half-staff in honor of Gary M. Chapin, a correctional officer at the Crawford County prison.
Chapin, of Conneaut Lake, died Nov. 15 from injuries sustained when he was allegedly assaulted by an inmate on Oct. 13. He was 49. The inmate faces criminal charges including homicide and aggravated assault.
Flags should remain at half-staff through sunset on Saturday, Nov. 20.
