Pennsylvania Governor Corbett Nominates Laura Ellsworth to Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today announced the nomination of Laura E. Ellsworth, of Pittsburgh, to serve on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Board of Governors.

Ellsworth, a partner with the international law firm Jones Day, has experience across a wide range of complex litigation matters on both the state and federal levels. She has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America, was recognized as a leader in the legal field by Chambers USA, and was acknowledged as one of Pennsylvania's top female litigators by Pennsylvania Law Weekly.
The Governor also announced the nomination of two student trustee members to the PASSHE Board of Governors: Sara Dickson, a junior at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and David Wolfe, a senior at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
The 20-member Board of Governors is responsible for planning and coordinating the development and operation of the PASSHE system. The board establishes broad educational, fiscal and personnel policies and oversees the management of PASSHE. The board also appoints the chancellor and university presidents, approves new academic programs, sets tuition and coordinates and approves the annual PASSHE operating budget.
All nominations are subject to confirmation by the Pennsylvania Senate.
