Pennsylvania Governor Corbett Makes Nominations to the State Tax Equalization Board
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today announced the nominations of Peter Barcz, of Media, and Anthony "Red" Pinizzotto, Johnstown, to the State Tax Equalization Board (STEB).
The Governor also renominated current STEB member, Daniel Guydish of West Hazleton, to serve another term.
"All of these individuals have earned great respect in their communities and across the state," Corbett said. "I have the utmost confidence that Peter, Red and Dan will serve the commonwealth with honor and dedication."
Barcz, a partner in a firm of certified public accountants serving municipal entities, businesses and individuals throughout Pennsylvania and the Greater Delaware Valley, is an active member of Southeast Pennsylvania's business community, volunteer organizations and local government.
Guydish, a current member and one-time chairman of STEB, is a longtime public servant. A former educator in the Hazleton Area School District, councilman and then mayor of the West Hazleton Borough, Guydish was originally nominated as member and chairman by former Governor Tom Ridge in 2000.
Pinizzotto, a former member of Johnstown City Council and current board member of the Greater Johnstown Water Authority, is a well-known leader and public servant in the Johnstown area.
STEB determines the aggregate market value of taxable property in each political subdivision and school district throughout the state. The market values are certified annually to the Department of Education and the respective school districts each year. These values are used by the department as one factor in a legislative formula for the distribution of state subsidies to each school district.
All nominations are subject to confirmation by the Pennsylvania Senate.
