Pennsylvania Governor Corbett Issues Flag Order to Honor U.S. Marine Cpl. Chad M. Smith
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett has ordered U.S. and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Susquehanna County to fly at half-staff on Oct. 22 in honor of U.S. Marine Cpl. Chad M. Smith, of Harford.
Smith, 23, died from injuries sustained in an accident during training Oct. 11 at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, Va.
Smith was a Designated Marksman assigned to the 2nd Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (2nd FAST) Company, Marine Security Force Regiment, II Marine Expeditionary Force. He had recently completed the Advanced Infantry Squad Leader Course.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Harford Fire Company.
