Pennsylvania Governor Appoints Penn Foster's CEO Frank F. Britt to Higher Education Advisory Panel
SCRANTON, Pa., Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Penn Foster, Inc., one of the largest online learning institutions in the world, today announced that its CEO, Frank F. Britt, was selected to serve on Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett's Higher Education Advisory Panel.
The 30-member panel was created to make recommendations on how to make higher education accessible and affordable to the students and taxpayers of Pennsylvania. One of the panel's main objectives is to develop a long-term strategy for higher education with regard to the changing and future demands of Pennsylvania's economy and jobs. The panel will also identify key critical issues and review current policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation that impacts postsecondary education in Pennsylvania.
The panel brings together the unique perspectives of university presidents, education professionals, and business leaders who have the knowledge and expertise to evaluate trends in education, including the role of technology, and how higher education can increase collaboration with the private sector and government.
"It is an honor for me to serve on this panel," Britt said. "Many issues must be addressed to make education work for higher learning and chief among them are affordability, motivation, and academic capability. The economy and job demands are changing rapidly. Under the current economic climate, how do we provide Pennsylvania residents an affordable and accessible means to learn the skills necessary to meet the workforce demands of today and tomorrow? My hope is to provide clear, actionable recommendations to Governor Corbett so that we can ensure that all Pennsylvanians have the opportunity to benefit from a higher education," Britt added.
The panel is expected to submit its findings to Governor Corbett by November 15, 2012.
