Pennsylvania General Services Announces Real Estate Property Purchasing Opportunities in Columbia, Elk and Lackawanna Counties

HARRISBURG, Pa., April 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The state Department of General Services today announced that parties interested in purchasing any of the three Pennsylvania armories now for sale are invited to place a bid anytime between now and the bid closing time of 3 p.m. June 2, 2014.

The three properties up for sale are:

  • The Berwick National Guard Armory located at 201 Pine Street in the Borough of Berwick, Columbia County. The nearly 19,000 square foot facility is situated on nearly one acre of land. Minimum bid price $300,000 (80 percent of Fair Market Value).
  • The Ridgeway National Guard Armory located at 72 N. Broad Street, Borough of Ridgway, Elk County. The facility is slightly more than 16,000 square feet and is situated on a quarter-acre of land. Minimum bid price $88,000 (80 percent of Fair Market Value)
  • The Scranton National Guard Armory located at 900 Adams Avenue, Scranton, Lackawanna County. The more than 102,000 square foot facility is situated on 1.5 acres of land. Minimum bid price $325,000 (50 percent of Fair Market Value)

The armories are no longer used by the Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, which has already moved personnel into newer readiness centers. All properties will be sold via sealed competitive bid at a discount with no requirement for the purchaser to preserve the historical exteriors of the facilities.
