Pennsylvania First Lady Susan Corbett Announces the Re-Opening of the Governor's Residence for Public Tours
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- First Lady Susan Corbett today announced that the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg has officially re-opened for public tours in the wake of recent flooding. No damage occurred to artwork or antiques and all items are again on public display.
"The Residence is fully operational following the recent flood and evacuation," said Corbett. "Fortunately, we experienced minimal damage and are looking forward to continuing to share the rich history of this home with the public."
The currently featured art exhibit, Across the Alleghenies, highlights paintings of the Western PA region by artists Ron Donoughe and Patrick Ruane. Art work is also on loan from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the State Museum of Pennsylvania.
Public tours are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through October 31, 2011. The Residence will re-open for holiday tours in December and the tour schedule will be released at a later date. Tours are conducted by professional docents at no charge; however, reservations are required and can be made by calling the tour line at 717-772-9130.
