Pennsylvania Farmers Market to Open May 3 at Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg
Market Open Tuesdays and Fridays, May to November
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Farmers Open Air Market will return to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center on May 3, providing Harrisburg-area residents and visitors an opportunity to purchase locally grown food directly from producers, acting Agriculture Secretary George Greig said today.
The market will be open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday until November.
"Farmers markets throughout the state provide consumers direct access to Pennsylvania's diverse agriculture industry," said Greig. "Whether you stop by for a quick lunch or to pick up products to enjoy at home, I encourage all Pennsylvanians to support our farmers markets -- not only for a fresh and affordable taste of Pennsylvania, but also to feed the state's economy."
New and returning vendors will offer a variety of in-season fruits and vegetables, dairy products, bakery items, cut flowers and bedding plants for purchase.
