Pennsylvania Department of Aging Now Accepting Nominations for Champions of Older Workers Award
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is seeking nominations for the annual Champions of Older Workers Award, which recognizes employers in the state who employ and value older workers.
"Older adults are a great asset for businesses and communities because of their experience, knowledge and work ethic," Secretary of Aging Brian Duke said. "The department is proud to acknowledge employers who bring skill and diversity to their workplace by hiring and using the talents of older Pennsylvanians."
The award is sponsored by the Department of Aging. Letters of notification were sent to the Area Agencies on Aging, Workforce Investment Boards, CareerLinks and the General Assembly. Individuals and businesses are also welcome to submit nominations.
One employer will be chosen to be placed in Pennsylvania's Hall of Fame of Champions of Older Workers in recognition of its efforts to hire and train older members of the workforce.
Deadline for submission of nominees is Dec. 6, 2013. The winner will be honored on May 8, 2014.
Nomination forms are available on the department's website at www.aging.state.pa.us.
