Pennsylvania Dental Association Announces Winners of Annual Statewide Third-grade Student Poster Contest
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/-- Camryn Eveler, a third-grade student at Dallastown Elementary in York County, will receive a $500 prize for winning first-place in the Pennsylvania Dental Association's (PDA) 2012 National Children's Dental Health Month (NCDHM) statewide poster contest.
Camryn's poster will be reproduced as bookmarks, which will be distributed to all of Pennsylvania's public libraries. A PDA member dentist will present Camryn with her framed winning poster and bookmarks at an upcoming school awards assembly.
In addition, Dallastown Elementary and Camryn's teacher, Megan Fricker, will each receive a $250 check for participating in PDA's contest.
Her winning poster, "Rock Your Healthy Smile, America," depicts a young girl playing a toothbrush shaped guitar on a stage in front of an American Flag. Vibrantly colored and skillfully drawn, Camryn demonstrated that she truly understands the importance of good oral health.
"Attack the Plaque: Be a Super Brusher," was the theme of second-place winner Graci Ehresman's poster. Graci, a third-grade student at Calvary Christian Academy in Huntingdon County, drew a superhero tooth attaching a slimy green plaque monster. Graci will receive a $250 prize.
Third-place winner, Megan DelPierre chose "You Don't Have to Look in the Ocean to Find Your Pearly Whites," as the theme for her poster. She drew a colorful ocean scene with a pearly white tooth inside a clamshell. Megan, a third-grader at Linglestown Elementary in Dauphin County, will receive a $100 prize.
The following students were among the Top 10 entries and will receive an Honorable Mention:
- Jillian Shay, age 9, Canton Elementary, Canton
