Pennsylvania Commission for Women Extends Nomination Deadline for 2014 Hannah Penn Leadership Awards
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Commission for Women today announced that due to significant interest, the nomination deadline for the first ever Hannah Penn Leadership Awards has been extended by one week. Nominations must now be postmarked by Feb. 7, 2014.
The awards named in honor of Hannah Callowhill Penn, seek to recognize Pennsylvania women who have been outstanding mentors and role models through their leadership, service and commitment to empowering women and girls.
"The Commission has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from individuals, businesses and organizations across the state," said Sue Schick, Chair of the Pennsylvania Commission for Women. "We felt it was imperative to extend the nomination deadline to ensure that every woman in Pennsylvania has an opportunity to be recognized for her contributions."
Winners of the Hannah Penn Leadership Awards will be chosen in three categories: the Business Leadership Award; the Civic and Volunteer Leadership Award; and the Rising Star Award.
Nominations are open to the public. The nomination form and guidelines are posted on the Pennsylvania Commission for Women website, www.pa.gov/commissionforwomen.
The Hannah Penn Leadership Awards will be presented at the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg on March 19, 2014, as part of Women's History Month.
