Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Invites Students to Discover Agriculture at Farm City Day
Registration Deadline is Sept. 24
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Agriculture Secretary Russell C. Redding today invited school and community groups to discover Pennsylvania agriculture through engaging, educational activities at the 13th Farm City Day on Thursday, Sept. 30 in Harrisburg.
Farm City Day will be held from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. The registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 24.
"Agriculture is Pennsylvania's number one industry, yet many of our citizens have little understanding of where their food comes from," said Redding. "We encourage teachers and students to join us for Farm City Day for a closer look at the work our farmers do to provide a safe, abundant food supply for our local communities and the world."
Redding added that Farm City Day also showcases the numerous career and educational opportunities available through agriculture.
More than 40 exhibitors will participate in this year's event, including interactive, educational stations featuring agricultural products like dairy, beef, vegetables and apples.
Public, private, charter and home school classes and community groups with students in second through fifth grades are invited to participate in Farm City Day. To register, contact Jared Grissinger at 717-705-9513 or [email protected] before the Sept. 24 deadline.
Farm City Day is held in conjunction with the 54th Keystone International Livestock Exposition, or KILE, Sept. 27 – Oct. 3, which will feature 4,000 animals including beef cattle, horses, sheep and swine. For a complete schedule, visit www.keystoneinternational.state.pa.us.
