Pennsylvania AFL-CIO: Labor Day Is Our Holiday!
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Labor Day Holiday was created by Labor Unions as a day to recognize the achievements of working people and the value of work. On this Labor Day Holiday hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania's working men and women will be celebrating by marching in parades, enjoying picnic barbecue's, and holding ceremonies to show their pride in their work and the valuable contributions that all workers make to America. As part of the celebrations they will be supporting policies that will rebuild the nation's middle class and create an economy that works for all not just the few. Pennsylvania's workers support real job creation initiatives that modernize our aging infrastructure, supports public education that gives every child the opportunity to succeed, health security and retirement security for all Americans. And just as important is giving back to workers what they need the most to improve their own wages, benefits and standard of living – the freedom to organize unions without being harassed or fired by their employer.
Join us as we carry on this great American tradition which began over 100 years ago.
