Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Endorses State Judicial Candidates in November General Election
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale today announced the endorsements of Judge David Wecht for Pennsylvania Superior Court and Kathryn Boockvar for Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.
"These candidates have demonstrated in their own unique way, their respect and their support for the value of work and for the dignity of working people. Our commitment to them is that we will work tirelessly on their behalf in sharing their record of support and service to Pennsylvania's working families," Bloomingdale said in announcing the endorsements.
"We expect the voice of workers to be heard on Election Day. We will educate and mobilize union workers and their families about the importance of the courts in their lives and the records of each of our endorsed candidates," Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder added. Snyder is also the Director of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO's Committee on Political Education, the political arm of the state labor federation.
The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO also announced the endorsements of members of the State Appeals Courts who are running for retention. Below is the complete list of endorsements of judicial candidates for election and retention in the November General Elections.

Pennsylvania AFL-CIO endorsements require 2/3rds approval of members of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Executive Council. The Council reviews the qualifications, experience and records of each candidate. The 64 member Executive Council is comprised of union officers, representing unions affiliated with the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and the two Executive Officers of the State Labor Federation: Rick Bloomingdale, President and Frank Snyder, Secretary-Treasurer.
