Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Endorsements in November General Election
HARRISBURG, Pa., July 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder announced endorsements of candidates for Congress and Pennsylvania's State General Assembly for the November General Election.
The Congressional and State Legislative endorsements were made by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Executive Council which met in Harrisburg today. Last month the Executive Council unanimously endorsed Democrat Tom Wolf for Governor and Democrat Mike Stack for Lt. Governor. Today, the Council made endorsements for Pennsylvania's Congressional seats and for seats in the State House of Representatives and the State Senate. The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is the largest labor organization in the state, representing over 800,000 unionized workers.
In announcing the endorsements Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale noted that every one of these candidates stands with workers and have fought against the attacks on jobs, wages, pensions, and the rights of workers waged by Governor Corbett and his allies.
"We highly recommend these candidates for Pennsylvania's working families. We are confident that they will support us as we fight to grow and protect jobs and support policies that will improve opportunities and the quality of life of working families. From the top of the ticket - Tom Wolf for Governor - and throughout this ticket, we have an excellent choice of leaders who are committed to keeping workers on a level playing field and moving Pennsylvania forward," Bloomingdale emphasized.
Secretary-Treasurer Snyder stated, "Starting today, we will be deploying our activists and volunteers to reach the worksites and households of workers in every region of the state on behalf of our endorsed candidates. This election will be won or lost on voter turnout and we are determined to educate and motivate beginning today through Election Day. It's time to stop playing defense and go on offense and that will only happen if we all vote in November."
