PennFuture: The message in 2014 is that Clean Energy Wins
New campaign engages candidates, policymakers and voters
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The PennFuture Energy Center announced today the launch of the Clean Energy Wins campaign via an interactive website and social media channels. The mission of the campaign is to educate and engage 2014 bipartisan candidates for governor in Pennsylvania, bipartisan policymakers throughout the state, and our citizens about the economic, job creation, and environmental benefits of clean energy, and to identify practical policies that can be implemented to realize those benefits.

"The facts are clear: Clean energy is a winning strategy for both the citizens and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," said Christina Simeone, director of the PennFuture Energy Center, which is spearheading the project. "This campaign will serve to illustrate these facts. The Clean Energy Roadmap Report, scheduled for release in late March, will provide a host of policy and program recommendations that will allow current legislators and the state's next Governor to make decisions that will power Pennsylvania well into the 21st century while creating jobs, lowering costs to consumers, and reducing carbon pollution."
The campaign is currently surveying clean energy businesses and stakeholders across the state to collect industry data on energy efficiency, solar, and wind to inform the roadmap report. Simultaneously, it is reaching out to clean energy voters, an ever-increasing group. An event to unveil the report and engage policymakers is slated for late March in Philadelphia.
"Clean energy generates real and lasting jobs, protects public health, and preserves our precious natural resources," said Cindy Dunn, president and chief executive officer of PennFuture. "The Clean Energy Wins campaign signals that this is a conversation we must have in 2014. We're honored to work with clean energy businesses and our partners to move the conversation forward."
