HARRISBURG, Pa., May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- PennFuture today announced two new members of its leadership team along with the repositioning of key roles, one to reinforce best practices and the other placing a greater emphasis on programmatic work.
Matt Stepp joins PennFuture as its director of policy. In this role, he will help chart a course for the organization's policy initiatives and also assume legislative duties as liaison with elected officials on both Hills, in Harrisburg and in Washington, D.C. Stepp comes to PennFuture from the Center for Clean Energy Innovation in Washington, D.C., where he was executive director advocating on climate and clean energy issues. Previously, he was with the National Academy of Sciences. Stepp has authored numerous papers on climate and energy policy.
Jay Andrews is PennFuture's new director of outreach and brings a solid background and track record of success to this public-facing role. Most recently, he was with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) as director of political organizing, where he directed campaigns, managed legislative advocacy and mobilized grassroots and grasstops. Andrews is a former professor of business communications at the Fox School of Business at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Elaine Labalme moves into the newly-created role of strategic campaigns director, where she will be running point on the organization's efforts tackling carbon and methane pollution, twin climate killers that are harming the environment as well as public health in Pennsylvania. Labalme has been with PennFuture for four years, the past two as its director of communications. Prior to joining the environmental advocacy organization, she worked as a communications consultant for nonprofit and foundation clients.
Pam Fendrock assumes the role of special projects director for PennFuture. In this capacity, she will work to implement efficiencies in internal operations and maximize the use of resources to help ensure the organization's sustainability. Fendrock has been with the organization for eight years, serving as northeast Pennsylvania outreach coordinator and web coordinator.
