PennDOT to Offer Motorcycle Safety Seminars at Sturgis Road Show

HARRISBURG, Pa., April 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Motorcyclists attending the Sturgis Road Show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg this weekend are invited to enhance their safety skills at two seminars offered by the Department of Transportation.

The first seminar, offered at 11 a.m. on April 16 and 17, will give riders the opportunity learn about the Live Free Ride Alive (LFRA) campaign. Participants will be able to view the LFRA campaign documentary, a collection of stories about Pennsylvania riders, their families and friends. The documentary celebrates the freedom of riding and takes a sobering look at what happens when it's gone. 

After the presentation, riders can share a personal riding story with fellow riders, which will be posted on the campaign's website, www.LiveFreeRideAlive.com and take the "Be One Less" pledge to honor the fallen and pledge to be one less statistic.

In the second seminar, offered at 2:30 p.m. on April 16 and 17, certified Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program (PAMSP) rider coaches will discuss safety concerns when participating in a group ride. While riding in a group, individuals are responsible for their own safety as well as for the safety of other riders. 

After the presentation, riders can enroll in a PAMSP course. The courses are free to Pennsylvania residents with a motorcycle learner's permit or license, and offered at 70 locations across the state from March through October. Visit www.pamsp.com for more information and to enroll in a course.
