PennDOT Honors 25 Employees with Star of Excellence Awards
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Leslie S. Richards announced today that 25 department employees received the agency's Star of Excellence Award, PennDOT's highest recognition, during an event at the Governor's Residence. Nine employees from the central office, Riverfront Office Center and Harrisburg-based District 8 Office were among the award recipients.
"The Star of Excellence award illustrates that these employees, through their dedication, innovation and energy keep our agency in the forefront of customer service," Richards said. "We estimate that this group of exemplary employees has saved taxpayers roughly $6 million through their efforts."
The awards are presented annually to employees who characterize PennDOT's values of service, performance and integrity, and represent a variety of organizational positions.
The eight Harrisburg-area award recipients are Kristen Sims, Steven W. Panko, Tammi Popp, Charles W. Zimmerman, Daniel P. Farley, Jr. and Kenda Jo M. Gardner, with Michael D. Toddes and Robert D. Shirk from PennDOT's Harrisburg-based Engineering District 8.
