PenFed Receives Recognition as U.S. Army Credit Union of the Year

The annual award recognizes the one on-post credit union branch that has provided the most exceptional financial service and support to its community. PenFed's Senior Manager of Branch Operations Deb York, Fort Hood Branch Manager Greg Ransaw, and four board members traveled to Boston for the ceremony in which the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Financial Management Command Major General David C. Coburn presented the award.

Coburn lauded the team of PenFed's Fort Hood branch for their community leadership, efforts to counter predatory lenders and the role they've played in the promotion of financial awareness. "I will let it be known that I could talk all day about their dedication to their local community, Soldiers and their families and the United States Army," he said.

PenFed President and CEO James Schenck put the significance of the honor into perspective. "What the Distinguished Credit Union Service Award is to DCUC members can be likened to what the Academy Awards are to the entertainment industry and what the ESPYs are to the sports world—recognition and a celebration of performance excellence," he said.

Schenck also credited the PenFed board's strategic approach.
