Pella Corporation Again Wins National Energy Honor
— Pella named 2010 ENERGY STAR(R) Sustained Excellence winner —
PELLA, Iowa, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have awarded Pella Corporation a 2010 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency. Pella's efforts will be recognized March 18 at a Washington, D.C., awards ceremony.
Pella — an ENERGY STAR partner in the U.S. since 1999 — will be honored by the EPA and DOE for its long-term commitment to providing energy-efficient products, and its across-the-board integration of ENERGY STAR information into media relations, consumer education programs, advertising, Web sites and training programs.
"Pella is proud to again be recognized with the highest honor in energy efficiency—the prestigious ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award," said Elaine Sagers, vice president of marketing for the privately-held company. "This is a credit to Pella team members who create some of the industry's most stylish, energy-efficient, sustainable windows and doors and our dedicated business partners who educate consumers about them."
The 2010 Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a select group of organizations that have exhibited outstanding leadership year after year. These winners have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals, employing innovative approaches, and showing others what can be achieved through energy efficiency.
"Pella's sustainability practices are designed to help lessen our impact on the environment," said Sandi Robinson, code and integrated marketing manager for Pella. "Recycling and sustainability have been a priority at Pella since our company was founded 85 years ago, that's why we place so much emphasis on helping consumers make energy-efficient choices for their own homes. In addition to manufacturing energy-efficient products, we're dedicated to promoting an appreciation for the value of ENERGY STAR-qualified products like Pella Windows and Doors."
The Sustained Excellence Awards recognize ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program including energy-efficient products, services, and new homes and buildings in the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Award winners are selected from more than 17,000 organizations participating in the ENERGY STAR program.
"EPA is recognizing Pella Corporation with our highest ENERGY STAR award - the 2010 Sustained Excellence Award," said Gina McCarthy, EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. "Pella's continued leadership and commitment to energy efficiency is a testament to what we can accomplish to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect our global environment."
According to the DOE, with the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans saved $17 billion on energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 30 million vehicles last year alone.
