Peeq Media Names Steven Babat Chief Executive Officer
NEW YORK, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Peeq Media, a leading provider of highly specialized digital and print production services to agencies, retailers and corporations, today announced the appointment of Steven Babat as Chief Executive Officer. Babat succeeds Arthur Hershaft, who has served as interim CEO over the past year. Hershaft will remain involved with the company in his capacity as non-executive Chairman of the Board, and will work closely with Babat.
"The Board of Directors and I are very pleased to welcome Steven Babat as the new CEO of Peeq Media," said Hershaft. "Steven is an experienced leader who has both the vision and technology expertise to continue building our reputation as the preferred marketing partner for Fortune 500 customers seeking to leverage new technology solutions to build their brands. Moreover, Steven is a great cultural fit for Peeq Media who appreciates the progress we have made and understands the great opportunity that lies ahead to grow our business and provide value-added services to clients."
Babat is a seasoned print and production industry executive with deep experience using technology to solve customer problems. He joins Peeq Media from Sandy Alexander, a leading commercial printing company with offset and digital print operations and information management services, where he was Chief Operations Officer. During his tenure, Babat planned and managed the transformation of the business, including extending the product offering, upgrading the efficiency of operations through improved processes and systems, and streamlining the organization. This provided significant improvements in overall financial performance.
Previously, Babat held the position of Vice President, Information Technology-Retail Information Services at Avery Dennison, where he was charged with enhancing the IT structure to improve operational efficiency following a major acquisition for a $1.7 billion division of the company. He also led the company's global IT organization of more than 300 people. Prior to Avery Dennison, Babat served as Chief Information Officer of Paxar Corporation, a $1 billion leader in identification solutions, including bar coding and RFID tags, for the retail and apparel industry.
"Peeq Media is a real leader in delivering advanced technology solutions to increasingly sophisticated and forward-thinking customers, and I am excited to have the opportunity to lead the company forward," said Babat. "Innovation is exploding in this industry, and we believe Peeq Media is perfectly positioned to help customers deploy and manage these new solutions to strengthen their brands and maximize the value of their marketing programs."
Babat earned a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from SUNY Binghamton and received his MBA in Finance from Fordham University.
