Peak Health Announces Results from Studies of ImmunAG™ and Cannabidiol (CBD) for Reducing Valvular Interstitial Cell Calcification (VIC) in Human Heart

LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Peak Health, a leading nutrition and fitness company dedicated to improving human health, announced results from two studies exploring the effects of cannabidiol (CBD) and its own ImmunAG™ product as a treatment for valvular interstitial cell (VIC) calcification. The tests revealed that ImmunAG™ reduced calcification more than CBD at every concentration.

Published today in the Journal of Medical Phyto Research, both studies were conducted to determine the effects of different concentrations of CBD and ImmunAG by isolating calcified VICs and testing treatment concentrations of 5,10, 25, 40, and 100 mg. Valvular interstitial cells (VICs) are integral to heart valve homeostasis and structural leaflet integrity. Calcification of VICs leads to dangerous diseases including calcific aortic valve disease. Findings revealed that more bioactive CBD in greater concentration greatly reduces VIC when combined with B-Caryophyllene and a-Humulene.

"The research demonstrated that a combination of high bioactivity CBD, BCP, and HUM reduces VIC calcification more than high bioactivity CBD alone," said Donish Cushing, lead author of both studies. Cushing continued, "It remains to be seen whether possible synergistic effects afforded by this combination of compounds extends beyond VIC calcification.
