WASHINGTON, Feb. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Decades of political and diplomatic efforts have had little influence in deterring North Korea's drive to acquire nuclear weapons or moderating its extreme human rights abuses. Policymakers are confronting the increasingly stark choice of going to war to forcibly disarm the rogue regime or accepting a nuclear-armed North Korea and its capacity to threaten peace and security around the globe.

The Global Peace Foundation is promoting a third way: a unified, nonaligned Korea that can resolve the nuclear threat and become an engine of economic growth for the benefit of all Koreans.

On February 6, 2018, the Alliance for Peacebuilding will host Global Peace Foundation International President James Flynn and other policy experts for a briefing on prospects and approaches to unification, and on the essential need of a guiding vision that can bridge the social and political divide separating the two Koreas.

The briefing will focus on Korean-led unification initiatives that transcend Cold War-era constructs and underscore the shared history and culture of the divided people as the best hope for an ultimate resolution of the problems of the Korean peninsula.
