PCS Edventures! Announces Egyptian Schools Implementation
Early Childhood and Robotics Programs Selected for Countrywide Pilot
BOISE, Idaho, Jan. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- PCS Edventures!.com, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PCSV), which designs and delivers educational products and services to the K-16 market, today announced that it has received a $40,000 order for early childhood and robotics programs for implementation in five Egyptian schools.
PCS early childhood and robotics programs will be implemented in the schools during the educational year that begins in September 2011. The five Egyptian schools, which are located in Qina, Sittah Uktubar, Minya, Oboor, and Bur Sa'id, are participating in an educational pilot program launching in five Egyptian governorates during the 2011 school year. PCS programs will be included in the Kindergarten and 6th Grade curriculums.
"We are very pleased to be involved in this pilot project," noted Robert Grover, President, COO and CTO of PCS Edventures!.com, Inc. "It is a showcase for the country, which is introducing new methods of education that fit perfectly with the PCS philosophy. We see this as an excellent opportunity to establish programs in highly visible, strategic sites throughout Egypt."
The order includes the PCS ThinkBug Kindergarten solution, which applies hands-on approaches and manipulatives to the development of early math and language skills. In addition, robotics educational materials, including the PCS Robotics Educator Pack, will be used in the program. The PCS Robotics Educator Pack is comprised of the PCS Brain, a proprietary robotic controller; fischetechnik building manipulatives; and the PCS Cortex, a proprietary, progressive environment developed specifically for teaching programming skills to K-12 students. Specialized training in PCS methods and materials will be included in the support package and supplied by Global Techniques, the exclusive distributor and licensee for PCS in Egypt.
Financing for this program will be provided through a special fund that was established in 2004 with the objective of creating a new model for educational institutions, including schools, technical institutes and universities, that combines high-level educational standards with affordability. Monies for the fund are available from various sources, including the Egyptian government, development partnership donations, and contributions from societal and business community resources. The fund is currently supporting a number of educational projects, and this pilot school program represents one of the major initiatives established to contribute to the development of education in Egypt.
Dr. Mohammed Yasser Refai, President of Global Techniques, said, "We have been promoting PCS programs through various channels in Egypt, and our work with pilot programs last Fall and Winter was of critical importance in raising our visibility and securing this important order."
