PCCA Congratulates Gigi Davidson On Receiving USP's 2015 Beal Award For Distinguished Volunteer Serivce
The Beal Award Honors a Person (or Persons) Who Has Made Outstanding Contributions to the Public Health While Serving as a USP Committee Member
HOUSTON, Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, PCCA extends its congratulations to member Gigi Davidson, RPh, DICVP, Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at North Carolina State's College of Veterinary Medicine, who has been named the winner of the U.S. Pharmacopeial (USP) Convention's 2015 Beal Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service. Ms. Davidson was chosen for her contributions in developing standards for compounding for both human and veterinary patients during a critical period in public health. Ms. Davidson is the first woman and first veterinary pharmacist to be honored with this award.

Ms. Davidson serves as chair of USP's Compounding Expert Committee. Recently, Ms. Davidson was appointed to represent USP on the FDA Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee. She also assists state boards of pharmacy on complex compounding issues relating to specific laws and legislation. Ms. Davidson sits on multiple boards including the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists, the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board Standards Committee and has served on FDA's Task Force on Compounding in Veterinary Medicine as well as the FDA/AVMA Ad Hoc Committee on Veterinary Compounding.
Ms. Davidson is the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, is a Clinical Associate Professor at Wingate University School of Pharmacy, Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy, Findlay University College of Pharmacy, East Tennessee State University's Gatton College of Pharmacy, and is a Visiting Scholar at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
