PayChoice Foils Fraud Attempts with Help from RSA Technology
EMC's Security Division Delivers RSA® Adaptive Authentication and Fraud Monitoring Service to Help Facilitate Secure Interactions with Over 70,000 Users
BEDFORD, Mass., Aug. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), today announced that it was chosen to supply risk-based authentication and real-time fraud monitoring protection for leading payroll provider PayChoice. RSA's risk-based security approach will help PayChoice minimize the risk of fraud attacks and provide peace of mind to both licensees and end users of its online payroll portal.
"Payroll data is one of the most sensitive and confidential types of information there is and handling it on behalf of our customers is our core business," said Robert Digby, Chief Executive Officer, PayChoice. "This alone means that data protection and security are our top priority, but we face a more complex challenge too – fighting sophisticated fraud and the ever-evolving cyber attack landscape."
Wanting to balance the importance of information security with the need for a convenient user experience, PayChoice searched for an innovative approach to user authentication. PayChoice wanted a solution that offered stronger protection than the traditional username and password model without introducing a complicated log-in process. The company needed a simple log-in process to avoid creating increased user support demand on its IT department. PayChoice also wanted to ensure its chosen solution was cost-effective and easily customizable to work with its various IT platforms.
"We did our homework and carried out extensive research into the solutions available on the market," Digby said. "Industry expert recommendations and technology demonstrations convinced us that it made sense to work with RSA. It was important to us that we partner with a reputable solution provider as we wanted to show our licensees that we were taking the best steps to protect their data."
PayChoice is deploying a strong portal protection solution with RSA® Adaptive Authentication, RSA's risk-based authentication and anti-fraud platform, with customizable risk policies and reporting as well as protection against existing and emerging fraud threats including advanced Trojan attacks. As an RSA Adaptive Authentication customer, PayChoice benefits from participating in the RSA eFraudNetwork™ which monitors, shares, and disseminates information on fraudulent activity with other members of this cross-institution, cross-platform anti-fraud community. PayChoice has worked closely with RSA to ensure the solution was tailored to the specific needs of its online portal.
RSA Adaptive Authentication adds a strong layer of security to username and password login processes by employing multi-factor authentication with the RSA Risk Engine to help ensure only authorized users are given access to online resources, accounts and portals. User authentication occurs invisibly as the RSA Risk Engine analyzes a series of indicators such as device characteristics and user behavior profiles among others, to assure the identity of the user and requests additional proof of identity when required.
"We're one of the only payroll providers to use this enhanced sort of user verification for our user portal, and this means our licensees and direct clients can offer a more secure service to their end users. It creates a competitive advantage for them," Digby added. "This confidence extends right out to our individual end users, who know they can trust their online interactions with us without having to use other more cumbersome methods to prove their identity."
