Pay-per-mile insurance provider, Metromile, names James Moorhead Chief Marketing Officer
Former CMO for Dish Network and senior marketer at Procter & Gamble brings award winning marketing leadership to Metromile
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Metromile, a pioneer in pay-per-mile car insurance in the United States, announced that James Moorhead will join the company as Chief Marketing Officer, effective Oct. 26. James will report to Metromile CEO Dan Preston.
James was most recently CMO for Dish Network, one of the nation's leading pay-TV providers, where he led marketing and market research, advertising and public relations. Before joining Dish Network, James held senior marketing roles at Procter & Gamble for 11 years and oversaw Old Spice during its "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" brand revival and worked with healthcare and grooming brands like Prilosec OTC, Vicks, and Gillette.
James will be responsible for overseeing marketing, digital acquisition, public relations, content, social media and email communications at Metromile.
"James is an outstanding hire and reflects Metromile's marketing focus on being a modern and consumer-focused product, rather than following traditional insurance tactics," said Dan Preston, CEO of Metromile. "He has exceptional brand expertise that he developed during his time at Proctor & Gamble and has demonstrated that he can build and lead an organization at scale while elevating the positioning of the product and brand."
"The pay-as-you-go economy is exploding and Metromile's pay-per-mile model is changing the game when it comes to car insurance by saving consumers significant amounts of money," said James Moorhead, CMO of Metromile. "I am really looking forward to leading Metromile's marketing team and taking such an amazing consumer product to the next level."
For his past work, Adweek's Brandweek editors named James as the 2010 Grand Marketer of the Year and Advertising Age named him to the 2011 Creativity 50. His team's television commercials have received many awards, including two Cannes Grand Prix, the Grand Effie and the Emmy for Best Commercial.
James received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
